Standard Veteran/Armed Forces Plates

Pennsylvania Army License Plate

Displaying a Veteran License Plate on Your Vehicle is a Great Way to Proudly Show Your Military Service or your Support for Our Troops. These ususally feature either branch or Veteran service organization logos next to the plate number. Anyone can apply for a standard plate, and they are relatively easy to obtain. As an added bonus, most states use the proceeds from these plates to fund Veteran Services!

How to get it:

*This is just a general outline of what you will have to do, obtaining a Veteran plate of any kind can vary greatly by state*

  1. Provide some form of ID to your local DMV
  2. Return your old license plate
  3. Complete an application form for your new Veteran license plate
  4. Pay any necessary fees

Special Veteran Plates

These plates are slightly more exclusive, and require more documentation to obtain than the previous plates mentioned. There are many types of special Veteran plates, the most common being for Purple Heart or Medal of Honor Recipients.

How to Get it:

  1. Provide proof of eligibility in the form of a DD214 or DD215 Discharge from Military Service showing documentation of award
  2. Provide proof of your Certificate of Registration for your vehicle

Disabled Veteran Plates

This is the most difficult plate to obtain, as it enables qualified applicants to get special parking privileges. This license plate is generally only available to Veterans who were disabled during their service time.

How to get it:

  1. Complete the corresponding application form
  2. Get VA Certification from a Registered VA Representative
  3. Provide a copy of your certificate of registration
  4. Pay a registration fee
